Titusville Aerospace Center of Excellence Opens: Converted Gym, $1.2M State Allocation
Updated: 14 hours ago
Eastern Florida State College opened its Aerospace Center of Excellence on the Titusville campus on October 13, 2026, the college said in a release that day. The project converted a former campus gymnasium into classrooms and laboratories and added an aviation training hangar next to it, under a $1.2 million state allocation approved in 2022.
What the Aerospace Center of Excellence Holds
The center carries laboratories for electronics, metal fabrication, fluids and composites. It brings the college's Aerospace Technology program, which stays based at the Cocoa campus, into North Brevard, and it is the new home of the Aviation Maintenance Technology program, which trains airframe and powerplant mechanics toward FAA certification.
The college expects the Aerospace Technology associate degree program to eventually double in size as a result of the expansion.
Lockheed Martin and ASRC Federal, partners on NASA's Orion program, are named as supporters, and Blue Origin donated a building compressor and helped install the compressed air lines for the mechanical lab. The release describes the site as adjacent to Kennedy Space Center.
