CesiumAstro Melbourne: $25M Facility and 100 Jobs Announced
CesiumAstro Inc. has selected Melbourne for a new engineering and manufacturing facility, the Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast announced on October 15, 2026. The space and defense systems company will invest $25 million in capital improvements and create 100 new jobs over the next 12 months, per the release.
What the CesiumAstro Melbourne Facility Will Do
The CesiumAstro Melbourne facility will expand the company's engineering and manufacturing capacity. CesiumAstro builds satellites, communications payloads, terminals and advanced computing systems, with hardware, software, manufacturing and testing kept in-house. The release does not give a street address or a building size.
CesiumAstro has grown to more than 850 employees with operations in the United States, Europe and Asia. It is headquartered near Austin, Texas, with facilities in Colorado, California, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan. Three recent acquisitions brought semiconductor design, AI-driven signal analysis and mission-critical software in-house, and its first operational satellite, Element-1, launched earlier this month.
Brett Paulson, the company's chief operating officer, said Melbourne gives it direct access to the Space Coast's aerospace talent and infrastructure. EDC president and CEO Lynda Weatherman, Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly and Melbourne Mayor Paul Alfrey are also quoted in the release.
