On August 19 the Rockledge City Council took first reading on 15 ordinances annexing five separate properties totaling roughly 12 acres. Four of the five are headed to industrial or industrial park zoning, including one parcel converting out of a county residential designation.

A builder with six Space Coast communities underway said Brevard has an inventory problem, not an affordability problem, and named what is actually holding units back: impact fees, organized opposition at hearings, and two to three years of entitlement before a shovel moves.
